Amy Friedman is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), yoga and meditation teacher, and educator. She has worked for the past twenty years helping kids, families and individuals find healthy and effective tools for a balanced and thriving life. Amy uses many modalities to create an experiential and integrated approach that meets each client where they are and works to develop healthy habits for long-term success.

Her work focuses on the belief that we all can heal and will grow through the healing process. Amy uses a strengths based approach that develops cognitive behavioral awareness and strengthens the body/mind connection. She helps clients access somatic experiences in a safe and trusting environment. Her experience includes working with those suffering from: anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment issues, relationship and family challenges, trauma and PTSD.

Amy’s introspective journey began young with a yogini and therapist mom to pave the way. Amy lives a holistic lifestyle balanced through a daily meditation practice, yoga, long distance trail running, spending time in nature, and creating music and art. Amy has been in the field of education for over twenty years teaching art, theater, dance, experiential education, and working as a school counselor. Before moving to Missoula, Amy has shared her passions and gifts while living and working overseas in Denmark, Bangladesh, and Honduras and stateside in Colorado, North Carolina, and New York state.

Amy received her B.A. in Art Education and Dance at the University of Colorado, Boulder and earned her M.A. in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education at the University of Colorado, Denver.  Amy is a lifelong learner and has trained and completed certification in Positive Discipline Parenting and Classroom education, 95-hour Kids Yoga, and a yearlong program for Mindfulness in Education. She recently completed her 200-hr. Yoga training and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training. She has led professional development workshops, women’s and educator retreats, support groups, and community classes.

In Missoula, Amy continues to stay involved in the community by teaching health and wellness practices, parenting courses, mindfulness meditation classes, and creative arts through the following amazing organizations: Families First Learning Lab, Open Way Mindfulness Center, Red Willow Learning Center, Freedom on the Inside, The Vet Center, The Women’s Club, and Peaceful Heart Yoga.

May we all continue to live to our fullest potential by planting healthy seeds and watering them daily!
